Frequently asked questions
Is it really private? Does anything get uploaded?
Yes, completely private. Every conversion happens inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never sent to any server — not even ours. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and conversions will still work.
What is the maximum file size?
50 MB per file. This limit exists because all processing happens in your browser's memory. For video files, very large files may be slow to process depending on your device.
Why does the first video conversion take so long?
Video conversions use FFmpeg.wasm, a ~32 MB library that has to be downloaded once on first use. After that it's cached in your browser and future conversions start instantly. Audio and image conversions start immediately with no downloads.
Does it work offline?
Yes — once you've visited the page, Convertlo installs as a Progressive Web App and caches itself. Image, audio, and document conversions work fully offline. Video conversions require the FFmpeg library to be cached first (happens automatically on first use).
Why does PDF → image only export the first page?
Currently only the first page is rendered. Multi-page PDF export is on the roadmap. For now, if you need all pages, split your PDF into individual pages first using a tool like PDF24, then batch-convert each page here.
Is Convertlo free? Are there any limits?
Completely free, no account required. There are no conversion limits, no watermarks, and no hidden paid tiers. The only limits are the 50 MB file size cap and what your browser can handle in memory.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes — enable the "Batch convert" toggle in the options panel, then select or drop multiple files. All files in a batch must be the same format type. Each file is converted and downloadable individually.
What browsers are supported?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari (desktop and mobile). Chrome and Edge give the best performance. Safari on iOS supports all conversions except video (FFmpeg.wasm requires SharedArrayBuffer which Safari limits on some versions).
